It is a very interesting subject. In any competitive exam,One third of the chemistry questions are asked from this part only.
It has 30% information and 70% logic. The information part is more important because 70% of the logic also acts on 30% information part.
So it is necessary for us to strengthen the information part. In this information part you are going to remember all those which are used like facts. Such as a lab test or a named reaction or an exception .There is no use of logic in it. It is beneficial to memorize these. To remember these, you revise daily for atleast 30 min. It will remain in your mind only then. It also becomes necessary because unless you have this part strong, whom will you apply logic to.
Now, understand the 70% logical part. This part is real science. There is only one logic but it works everywhere. If you understand it once, then you just have to put it on the memorized information part. You will feel very much in this.
Most of the students who often say that he/she does not extinguish or understand anything in the organic chemistry, their 30% rote part is weak and they just know how to apply logic. But if you do not have the information like in which reaction What happens where will you apply the logic.
The organic chemistry of students who are preparing for medical entrance exam like NEET or AIIMS is easy. But there are some tough questions in engineering exams.
If you want to become a master in this part, then instead of rote everything, you should concentrate on concept building. For this, you must read the book of Morrison and Boyd which will greatly improve the capacity of thinking in it.
To do this well, you have to keep making questions on every small topic. For which the book of Arihant Publication is very helpful. Once you start making questions, then you can do advanced problems in organic chemistry by Himanshu Pandey. And finally, make question bank for the last ten years of the exam you are preparing.
All The Best .
Very helpful!
